Mendota sets budget, swears in officials Monday

MENDOTA – The Mendota City Council meeting on Monday night voted to accept the fiscal year 2024 General Fund Budget of $8,168,000.  This will lead to a projected surplus of over $200,000. In other business, returning alderman John Hessenberger, John Holland, Jay Miller and Mark Peasley were sworn in for another term. Appointed to treasurer was Rob Letterly.

A new business will be taking over a motorcycle shop on 7th Avenue in Mendota.  A $45,000 revolving fund loan was granted to Andy Krause, Jason Hoehn, and Joe Steghauer for seven years at 5% interest.  The three plan to keep the business a motorcycle shop.

Police Chief Gregory Kellen announced the second of two Dodge Durangos will be delivered to the department soon, and requested $41,009 from the state drug fund to pay for the new SUV. Kellen stressed that the money for the new vehicles has not come from city taxpayer dollars.
