LASALLE-PERU – LaSalle-Peru Township High School’s varsity volleyball coach Mark Haberkorn was named the IHSA Coach of the Year Thursday. Coach Haberkorn began coaching volleyball in 1982 at Lostant High School and continued on to L-P in 1988. He took a small break from 1991 to 1994. Throughout his career he has had teams go to state three times, this season his girls clenched his 1,000th career win, he is only one of five coaches in Illinois to earn 1,000 wins, and he is a member of L-P’s Hall of Honor.
