Scouting for Food – Oglesby

November 19, 2016

Many years ago, the Boy Scouts of America established the tradition of teaching boys to render community service.  With that premise in mind, BSA developed and began to conduct their annual Scouting for Food campaigns across the United States to help feed the less fortunate in a Scout unit’s respective community.  The Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of Lowaneu District of W.D. Boyce Counceil of Boy Scouts of America are about to undertake their annual Scouting for Food community service project, and your help is requested.
This project entails Cub Scouts and/or Boy Scouts canvassing door to door to collect non perishable food items left in the front door in a bag marked Scouting for Food or cash in an envelop marked Scouting for Food or come out and meet a Scout doing a Good Turn for America.  The local Food Pantry or the area’s distribution groups for the less fortunate in the community would then receive and distribute the items collected.
Scouting for Food will be conducted on Saturday, November 19th from 9:00am til Noon in Oglesby by Pack/Troop 3715 & 0715.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Gary J Balzarini at 815.579.8774
