6LACK is stepping into a new era. The Atlanta singer-songwriter has confirmed that his next album, Love Is The New Gangsta, will be released on May 22, marking a significant milestone a decade after his breakthrough project FREE 6LACK.
The announcement follows a quiet buildup on social media, where he hinted at a fresh chapter after the success of his 2023 album Since I Have A Lover. That project earned widespread praise and a Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album, setting a high bar for what comes next.
Leading the rollout is the single “Bird Flu,” with the accompanying video offering an early glimpse into the album’s tone, emphasizing themes of growth, healing, and self-reflection.
The album’s title signals a shift in perspective—placing emotional openness, self-awareness, and compassion at the forefront. That direction is echoed in the album artwork, which features 6LACK alongside his daughter, both smiling—a subtle but meaningful nod to the personal nature of the project.
