Area libraries and schools awarded CARES Act Grants from Secretary of State

SPRINGFIELD – Area libraries and schools have been awarded CARES Act Grants from Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White. Libraries could apply for grants to help purchase cleaning and PPE supplies to offset costs during the pandemic. Mendota, Princeton, Spring Valley and others were awarded $500. School libraries could also apply for a grant for Digital Network Access, with over $5,000 awarded to Hall and over $8,000 awarded to schools in the Bureau County community of Ohio.
“Our public libraries and schools continue to be the cornerstones of our communities, and they have never been more important to their patrons and students,” said White. “We have to ensure they are safe and accessible to everyone. I am pleased to award these grants through the Illinois State Library to assist librarians, patrons and school districts during this unprecedented time.”
