Mendota Mayor reacts to rising COVID-19 infections

Mayor Boelk – Mendota

MENDOTA  –  Mendota Mayor David Boelk warned residents that an executive order mandating all non-essential businesses closed will be issued if COVID-19 numbers continue to increase in the next 24 hours. Boelk explained that as of Monday, the city has seen an increase of coronavirus cases five fold in just over 3 weeks, with a positivity rate of almost 10%. Mendota Police will also begin to issue fines to those not wearing masks in public, and to those who hold gatherings of over 10 people. The mayor stated that although this may seem like a threat, he feels it is his responsibility to keep Mendota residents safe.
