Q Teacher Salute


Thank you to all in the community for nominating your teacher for the Q Teacher Salute, sponsored by Q, Pizza Hut and Exposure Salon & Day Spa in LaSalle.

All winning teachers received a $250 salon and day spa gift certicicate from Exposure Salon & Day Spa and a certificate honoring the teacher as the Q Teacher Salute winner for that month.

And the classroom received a class pizza party from Pizza Hut, delivered by Q on-air staff.

Below is a list of teachers, by month, for the 2012-2013 school year.


October
Congratulations to our October recipient of the Q Teacher Salute: Mrs. Janet Piefer. Mrs. Piefer teaches English 2 and 4 at Fieldcrest High School in Minonk. She was nominted by Ashley, who had this to say about her teacher: "Mrs. Piefer is dedicated to our learning, as well as making special accomidations to those with disabilities. She is a breast cancer survivor. She deserves some pampering and even more importantly - SUPPORT!"








November
Congratulations to our November recipient of the Q Teacher Salute: Mrs. Jen Porter. Mrs. Porter teaches third grade at Lincoln School in Oglesby. She was nominated by Gage, who had this to say about his teacher: "I think Mrs. Porter should win this award because she lets up do fun things. She tells up lots of information about math. She helps students get better help. She does great brain breaks. She lets us do "trip." Mrs. Porter teacher us new things. She asks us questions and wants us to ask questions. She is the best!!

 



December
Congratulations to our December recipient of the Q Teacher Salute: Mrs. Maribeth Ficek. Mrs. Ficek teaches children with learning disabilities in grades kindergarten through eighth at Dimmick School. She was nominated by Michelle, mother of Ray and Zack, both students of Mrs. Ficek. Michelle had this to say about their teacher: "My twin sons Ray and Zack were born with hearing problems, which put them way behind in school. They have been working with Mrs. Ficek for several years. They are now in seventh greade and have gotten on the honor roll for the first time. They are catching up quickly and may very well graduate eighth grade with reading and math skills at an eighth grade level. I attribute this to Mrs. Ficek. She loves the kids, has an abundance of patience and the kids love her as well."


January
Congratulations to our January recipient of the Q Teacher Salute: Mrs. Gillie Ocepeck. Mrs. Ocepeck teaches first grade students at Northview School in Peru. She was nominated by Maryssa, who says "Mrs. Ocepeck is the best teacher ever because she makes learning fun!"









February
Congratulations to our February recipient of the Q Teacher Salute: Mrs. Julie McDonald. Mrs. McDonald teaches fifth grade students at John F. Kennedy in Spring Valley. She was nominated by Kendall, who says "Mrs. McDonald is very nice and understanding."








March
Congratulations to our March recipient of the Q Teacher Salute: Mrs. Julie Rietgraf. Mrs. Rietgraf teaches sixth and seventh grade students at Washington in Oglesby. She was nominated by Sarah, who says "I am nominating this teacher because she is an amazing teacher. She makes learning fun and exciting and she is the funniest teacher I have ever had. She is not too strict. She is one of the best teacher I will ever have."








April
Congratulations to our April recipient of the Q Teacher Salute: Mrs. Alice Fritz. Mrs. Fritz teaches third grade students at Lincoln School In Mendota. She was nominated by Emily, mother of third grade student Meredith, who says "She makes learning fun. Mrs. Fritz loves her job and her students. She is very caring. She has our calss help beautify the downtown area by planting flowers in the downtown flower containers."





May
Congratulations to our May recipient of the Q Teacher Salute: Miss Carly Lopez. Miss Lopez teaches fifth grade students at Deer Park School in Deer Park. She was nominated by Nathan, who says, "She is the most amazing teacher you will ever meet, if you choose her. Plus, she let us have the best party in the world. We played Just Dance 4 at the party. She is the best teacher who can really teach you in a fun way. That's why you should choose her."
